About the Park

Home to the greatest show on the planet Serengeti National Park is the primary glory of Tanzania. And is located completely in the northeastern area of the Simiyu region and the eastern Mara region.

Best Time to Visit

The best months to visit Serengeti National Park is in January and February or from June to October. However, it wont matter much which time you visit because the safari experience in Serengeti is ideal all year-round.

The Dry Season

From November to May

This is the best season to see the Great Wildebeest Migration. We recommend going to the western corridor for the best experience.

This is an ideal time to see some predator action – as the calving season happens in these months.

The wildlife is easier to spot because they gather around the watering holes.

The landscapes and lush and vibrant.

The weather is sunny and there’s hardly any rainfall.

The birdwatching experience is at its absolute best – because of the presence of migratory birds.

Getting There

Typically, all safaris to the Serengeti start from the town of Arusha. The most convenient way to get to the park is to fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Its situated around 46 km from Arusha town. Also, you can fly to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). Its located just outside of the city of Dar es Salaam.

The Serengeti is renowned for its population of predators. And, on a Safari in Serengeti, you’ll get the chance to observe them. You should expect incredible sightings of cheetahs, lions, leopards, golden and black-backed jackals, spotted, hyenas, African wild dogs, etc.

The Great Wildebeest Migration is a major highlight of the wildlife of the Serengeti. This is the annual movement of millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles from the Masai Mara to the plains of the Serengeti.

There are also more than 500 species of birds in the Serengeti. Including some endemic species like Fischer’s lovebird, grey-breasted spurfowl, rufous-tailed weaver, etc. Other species of birds in the park include southern ground hornbills, African collared doves, secretary birds, etc.
